Translated headword: approved (ones), tested (ones)
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] chosen [ones].[1]
Eusebius "also wrote other approved commentaries."[2]
Greek Original:
Dedokimasmena: kekrimena. egrapse de Eusebios kai alla hupomnêmata dedokimasmena.
Notes:
[1] Likewise in ps.-Zonaras. The headword is perfect middle/passive participle, neuter nominative/accusative plural, of dokima/zw; cf. generally delta 1327, delta 1328. It might be extracted from the quotation given here, though ps.-Zonaras does not have it, and there are other possibilities in e.g. Xenophon (Oeconomicus 6.14, later quoted by Stobaeus) and Polybius (9.32.8).
[2] Eusebius of Caesarea: see epsilon 3737, from which this phrase comes. Eusebius' Commentaries on the Psalms were highly regarded by patristic writers in spite of the author's Arianism (Quasten III.337).
