[1] His name is transmitted as Ainikos both here and in ps.-Zonaras, but it should be Eunikos (Pollux 10.100; Athenaeus, Deipnosophists 13.567C (13.21 Kaibel), who mentions the play mentioned here -- see further, next note). See generally Kassel-Austin, PCG V pp. 278-279.
[2] For the name cf. generally alpha 2501, alpha 2644 (name of a courtesan). E's play, however, may (despite Athenaeus' assumption: see previous note) have been on a mythological subject: Anteia was an alternative name for Stheneboea (sigma 515).
[3] Here again the name may be faulty: one manuscript has Aineios.
