     װי אַזױ זאָל זיך נח צעלניקער נישט פֿרײען אַז גאָט האָט אים גע־
האָלפֿן, ער גיט אױס דאָס לעצטע קינד, ער מאַכט חתונה די ייִנגסטע
טאָכטער?
     פֿאַר װעמען?
     למאַי נפֿקא־מינה ― צי פֿאַר ברוכן, צי פֿאַר זרחן, צי פֿאַר פֿײַטלען,
צי פֿאַר טרײַטלען? ― אױסגעגעבן, חתונה געמאַכט ― און אַן עק!

אַ טאָכטער, אַ האָרב פֿון די פּלײצעס, גלאַט אַזױ, אַבי פּטור געװאָרן?

     דאָס גאַנצע לעבן זײַנס האָט ער מקריבֿ געװען פֿון די קינדערס װעגן:

אַפֿן פֿראָסט, זיך געשלעפּט אין רעגנס און אין בלאָטעס, שױן געלעגן װיפֿל
מאָל אונטערן װאָגן אױך, אַ פּאָר מאָל װינטער אין אַ פּאָלאָנקע, זיך צוגע־
קילט די לונג, באַקומען אַ מאָדנע הוסט ― איר פֿרעגט, װי אַזױ מע װערט
