Headword: Ὑποδέξη
Adler number: upsilon,474
Translated headword: reception
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] receiving, the things suitable for receiving.
Greek Original:
Ὑποδέξη: ὑποδέχη, τὰ πρὸς ὑποδοχὴν ἐπιτήδεια.
Notes:
Likewise or similarly in other lexica, including Apollonius' Homeric Lexicon; references at Photius upsilon190, where Theodoridis obelizes the transmitted headword and first glossing word. The headword should be the noun ὑποδεξίη , from Homer, Iliad 9.73, and the first word of the glossing phrase should be ὑποδοχή , as in the scholia there (and Hesychius).
cf. generally upsilon 475.
Keywords: definition; dialects, grammar, and etymology; epic; ethics
