Notes:
[1] Likewise or similarly in other lexica; references at Photius upsilon147, where Theodoridis notes 2 instances of the headword -- neuter nominative/accusative singular of this adjective -- in the biblical commentaries of Cyril of Alexandria (PG 69.920a, 70.525d). There are in fact more in that same author, and others in the genre.
[2] Quotation -- transmitted, in Adler's view, via the Excerpta Constantini Porphyrogeniti -- unidentifiable. (There is no obvious basis for Valckenaer's attribution of it to Aelian, noted by Adler.) For 'gigantic' cf. under gamma 263.
