[1] From a Byzantine-era hymn. Adler's reference is 'Cosm. Hier., Can. 5.62-4'. The closest to this proffered by the TLG covers only the first phrase (i.e. as far as 'the light'): Analecta Hymnica Graeca, Canones Augusti Day 1 canon 1 ode 5 lines 1-2.
