Headword: Θρέπτα
Adler number: theta,473
Translated headword: rearing-rewards
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] bringing-up monies.
Greek Original:
Θρέπτα: τροφεῖα.
Notes:
Same entry in Photius (theta216) and other lexica. The neuter plural headword is transmitted as θρέπτα , which is independently attested in this sense only in Quintus Smyrnaeus 11.89, where it may be a mistake for or a variant of θρέπτρα . In any event, θρέπτρα occurs in a more mainstream passage -- Homer, Iliad 4.478 -- from which the present entry is taken to derive.
cf. generally theta 474.
