[θοῦρον ] and [sc. also attested is] θούριος : [meaning] springing, quick, most/very warlike.[1] In the Epigrams [it is written]: "another of the Cretans was wont to be a bold man."[2] "Bold Ares drew [...] from the Argives and the Lacedaemonians."[3]

Θοῦρον καὶ Θούριος: πηδητικόν, ταχύν, πολεμικώτατον. ἐν Ἐπιγράμμασι: ἄλλος ἀπὸ κράτας θοῦρος ἀνὴρ ἔθετο. Θούριος Ἄρης ἔσπασεν Ἀργείων καὶ Λακεδαιμονίων.
