Headword: *qe/mistos
Adler number: theta,127
Translated headword: of right
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] of justice.
Greek Original:
*qe/mistos: dikaiosu/nhs.
Note:
The headword, evidently extracted from somewhere, is the epic/Aeolic genitive singular of the noun qe/mis; cf. theta 114, theta 115, theta 117. C. Theodoridis in his Photius edition (vol.II p.LX) points out that in earlier lexica it was construed as an adjective in the nominative singular, and glossed with di/kaios; the Suda lexicographer, he therefore claims, was making a (good) textual conjecture in changing the gloss to dikaiosu/nhs (for which cf. the scholia to Homer, Iliad 5.761: qe/mista: dikaiosu/nhn).
