[2] theta 201. A native of Egypt, Theophylact Simocatta (or as here Simocattes: either way 'Snubnosed Cat') flourished at Constantinople at the time of Emperor Heraclius (610-40), under whom he served as imperial secretary. He was the author of historiography, epistles and dialogues concerning physical questions (see below for the editions). Besides theta 201 itself, Simocatta is frequently quoted in the Suda: see e.g. alpha 3361, beta 372, gamma 116, delta 1236, epsilon 134, epsiloniota 267, theta 518, pi 395, pi,1234, pi 1263, upsilon 348.
