Headword: *silai/nw
Adler number: sigma,411
Translated headword: I goad, I tease
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
The [verb that means] I make horses move.
Greek Original:
*silai/nw: to\ tou\s i(/ppous kinw=.
Notes:
Comparable entry, according to Adler, in the Ambrosian Lexicon (1648).
Though transmitted in most of the manuscripts (Adler reports) as silai/nw, the headword verb should actually be sillai/nw (sigma 410). The Suda (like modern Greek) shows little concern for the distinction between single and double consonants. See also sigma 414.
