Headword: *sxola/zein
Adler number: sigma,1795
Translated headword: to be at leisure
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
['To be at leisure'] and 'to have leisure', not to have opportunities [eu)kairei=n], is what Attic writers say.
Greek Original:
*sxola/zein kai\ sxolh\n a)/gein, ou)k eu)kairei=n le/gousin *)attikoi/.
Notes:
Likewise in the Synagoge and Photius' Lexicon, and similarly elsewhere. Cf. sigma 1796.
This disapproval of eu)kairei=n is repeated under the main part of sigma 1802, though in a supplementary part of that entry its legitimate equivalence with sxola/zein appears to be conceded.
