[2] Greek Anthology 6.187.4 (probably due to Alpheios of Mytilene), dedications to Pan by three brother hunters; cf. Gow and Page (vol. I, 394-394), (vol. II, 427), and another excerpt from this epigram at omega 269. The ascription of this epigram is disputed. The Anthologia Palatina (AP) attributes the epigram to Alphios of Mytilene, and the Anthologia Planudea to Alpheios, but the AP scribe designated C (the Corrector), a reliable source for epigrammatic redactions, assigns this work to Alcaeus. Finding Alpheios to be a mediocre composer, Gow and Page note (vol. II, 425) that this epigram "seems more like Alpheus than Alcaeus", and include 6.187 among the former poet's works.
