[sc. ῥύσις is a variant of] ῥεῦσις .[1] "They were afraid of the shortage of water, because a water's flow was nowhere clearly appearing".[2]

Ῥύσις ὕδατος: ῥεῦσις. ἐδεδίεσαν τὴν τοῦ ὕδατος σπάνιν, διὰ τὸ μηδαμῆ φαίνεσθαι ὕδατος ῥύσιν ἁπλῶς.
Notes:
The headword phrase is possibly though not necessarily extracted from the quotation given. It also occurs in (e.g.) Plato, Laws 944B (in a list of the various circumstances which might mitigate the crime of abandoning one's weapons). Note also ῥύσις ὑδάτων in Plutarch, Moralia 1005D.)
