[Meaning] cowards; for Xenarchus, the son of Sophron the mime-writer, used to satirize the Rhegians as cowards - persuaded [to do this] by Dionysius the tyrant.
And [there is] a proverb: 'more cowardly than a Rhegian', in reference to the excessively cowardly.[1]
Also [sc. attested is another proverb:] 'more cowardly than the peeper'.[2]

Ῥηγίνους: τοὺς δειλούς: Ξέναρχος γάρ, ὁ Σώφρονος τοῦ μηνογράφου υἱός, ἐκωμῴδει τοὺς Ῥηγίνους ὡς δειλούς, ὑπὸ Διονυσίου τοῦ τυράννου πεισθείς. καὶ παροιμία: Ῥηγίνου δειλότερος, ἐπὶ τῶν καθ' ὑπερβολὴν δειλῶν. καὶ Δειλότερος τοῦ παρακύπτοντος.
