Headword: Παλιναίρετα
Adler number: pi,98
Translated headword: rebuilt [things]
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] ones which have been reconstructed, and as if cleaned up; but not new, or in sound condition.
Greek Original:
Παλιναίρετα: τὰ ἐπεσκευασμένα, καὶ οἷον ἐπίγναφα: οὐ καινὰ δέ, οὐδὲ ὑγιῆ.
Note:
Neuter plural of this adjective (LSJ entry at web address 1); also with the same or similar glossing in Photius (Lexicon pi77 Theodoridis) and elsewhere, including Timaeus' Platonic Lexicon, where its appearance in Plato, Timaeus 82E is mentioned. That passage is therefore a possible source of these entries, though given the gloss, Pindar fr.84 (παλιναίρετα οἰκοδομήματα ) is likelier: see under pi 99.
