*pente/ktenoi: peripo/rfuroi. dia\ to\ e)nufa/nqai peri\ ta\s w)/|as pe/nte kte/nas porfurou=s.
Notes:
Same entry in Photius (pi580 Theodoridis), and cf. Pollux 7.52 and Hesychius pi1407. The nominative plural headword might be quoted from somewhere in its own right but more probably reflects an accusative plural used by Menander (fr.92 Kock, 94 K.-A., quoted by Photius pi708.) See also Kassel-Austin, PCG II p.471, on Antiphanes fr. 289.
For the etymology see LSJ s.v. ktei/s 8b. On w)/a or w)/|a "border, fringe," see omega 1.
