Likewise or similarly in other lexica; references at Photius pi280 Theodoridis. The headword is nominative or accusative plural of a neuter noun more commonly spelled with single mu. (For its cluster of meanings see LSJ s.v.) Theodoridis takes it to be quoted from the Septuagint (Exodus 35.11, παραρρύματα there), but another attractive possibility is Xenophon, Hellenica 1.6.19 (on a protective feature of the Athenian triremes about to fight the battle of Arginousai in 406 BCE); see generally Lionel Casson, Ships and Seamanship in the Ancient World (Baltimore 1992) 249 with n.99.
