Headword: *paraplh=gas pe/tras
Adler number: pi,413
Translated headword: slanting rocks
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning rocks] on the seashore, being struck [plhssome/nas] by the sea.
Greek Original:
*paraplh=gas pe/tras: parali/as, plhssome/nas u(po\ th=s qala/sshs.
Notes:
Same or similar entry in other lexica (references at Photius pi283 Theodoridis), including Apollonius' Homeric Lexicon, but here misleadingly punctuated. The Suda's two-word headword phrase, in the accusative plural, should actually be simply 'slanting', with 'rocks' as part of the gloss. See the scholia to Homer, Odyssey 5.418, where the phrase h)i+o/nas te paraplh=gas ("and slanting beaches") occurs.
For the adjective paraplh/c, see also pi 414 and pi 415.
