Greek Original:
*peritroph=|: e)n perio/dw|. th=s nukto\s to\n kairo/n, e)s o(\n toi=s *)isau/rois h( fulakh\ tou= tei/xous, u(/pnon e)k peritroph=s tw=n a)/llwn ai(roume/nwn, e)ne/bale.
Notes:
[1] Likewise in the Synagoge and in Photius, Lexicon pi785 Theodoridis. The headword is dative singular of the feminine noun peritroph/. It must be quoted from somewhere, but not the quotation which follows; there are various possibilities.
[2] Procopius, History of the Wars of Justinian 7.20.14 (with e)pe/bale rather than the Suda's e)ne/bale, and with tou/tois toi=s *)isau/rois "these particular Isaurians" who were planning to betray the city); see web address 1. During the Gothic War (535-554 CE), guards from the Asinaria Gate's night watch conspire to betray Rome to the Goths (December 17, 546 CE); cf. Kaldellis (421) and further background at beta 559 and epsilon 1256. On the Isaurians, see iota 616.
