Headword: Περισκυτίζοντος
Adler number: pi,1287
Translated headword: scalping (in Scythian fashion)
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning someone/something] skinning.
Greek Original:
Περισκυτίζοντος: ἐκδερματίζοντος.
Note:
Likewise in the Synagoge and Photius pi757 Theodoridis. The headword as transmitted is present participle, masculine or neuter genitive singular, of περισκυτίζω , presumably a variant of περισκυθίζω (see pi 1286). Adler notes that 'H.Stephanus' (Henri Étienne) emended to περισκυθίζοντος ; that violates strict alphabetical order, but Theodoridis nevertheless deems it correct. With either spelling, the source is unidentifiable.
