Notes:
From Symeon Metaphrastes, Life and Martyrdom of Lucian of Antioch, PG 114.405a, also published as an appendix to Philostorgius, ed. Bidez (ed. 3 Winkelmann) p.190 line 23. For this Lucian, see lambda 685. In the episode in question two young men are suffering a nasty form of martyrdom; the younger dies first, then the older embraces him and dies also.
*periple/gnumai is noted in LSJ s.v. as a late equivalent of periple/komai; the TLG shows no attestation earlier than the Suda.
For the glossing participle cf. under epsilon 2759.
Entry lacking, Adler reports, in mss AFV.
