Notes:
Likewise or similarly in other lexica, including Synagoge pi386; references at Photius pi736 Theodoridis, where the editor cites Bekker's view that the headword phrase comes from Arrian, Anabasis 4.8.9 (καὶ περιπετῆ ̓Αλεχάνδρῳ γενέσθαι Κλεῖτον ἀνακαλοῦντι ) but also proffers his own suggestion of Menander, Aspis [Shield] 335-6 (τῶν ἄφνω τούτων τινὶ κακῶν γενέσθαι περιπετῆ ).
cf. generally pi 1424, pi 1243.
[1] This final word of the entry is regarded as a copying error, derived from the last word of what is preserved as the next entry in these earlier lexica: περίπλεον: πλήρη ('complete: [meaning] full.')
Keywords: biography; comedy; definition; ethics; historiography; history
