On this (unglossed) headword flo/nos, a masculine noun in the nominative singular, see Dioscorides Pedanius, De materia medica 4.103.3; Etymologicum Magnum 796.28 (Kallierges); ps.-Zonaras 1813.15 (Tittmann); and LSJ s.v. It is the name of a toxic herbaceous plant, probably one of the mulleins, Verbascum sinuatum (Tutin, p. 213; Polunin, no. 1191). Alternative names for this same member of the figwort family are flo/mos, -ou, -h( (LSJ s.v. and Theophrastus, Enquiry into Plants 9.12.3) and plo/mos, -ou, -o( (LSJ s.v. and Aristotle, History of Animals 602b.31).
