[no gloss]
Greek Original:
*filw/tas.
Notes:
Adler's apparatus notes the gloss *persw=n ba(sileu/s), 'king of Persians', as an addendum in ms V. Nevertheless this entry surely refers to Philotas the Macedonian noble, son of Parmenion (pi 676); commander of the Companion cavalry during the early campaigns of Alexander the Great, but tortured and executed in 330 BCE when suspected of treason. See generally OCD(4) s.v.
Same entry, according to Adler, in the Ambrosian Lexicon (242).
