Meaning ready.[1] Also [sc. attested is] able to [hoios te],[2] meaning ready to. And he was able, meaning he was ready. It is also used with the meaning he was eager. Lysias [writes]: "for he was forcing his way and able to find the door."[3] It means also the correlative: "this sort of man [toioutos], what sort [hoios] his father was".[4]

Οἷος: ἀντὶ τοῦ ἕτοιμος. καὶ οἷός τε, ἀντὶ τοῦ ἕτοιμος. καὶ οἷος ἦν, ἀντὶ τοῦ ἕτοιμος ἦν. τίθεται δὲ καὶ ἀντὶ τοῦ ἐσπούδαζε. Λυσίας: ἐβιάζετό τε γὰρ καὶ οἷος ἦν ἐξευρεῖν τὴν θύραν. σημαίνει δὲ καὶ τὸ ἀνταποδοτικόν: τοιοῦτος οἷος ἦν ὁ πατήρ.
