"[There is no] man who has good fortune in all respects. For either having been born noble he does not have a means of living, or being low-born he has lost his little oil-flask." What followed [was] "he tills a rich plain."

Οὐκ ἔστιν ὅς τις πάντ' ἀνὴρ εὐδαιμονεῖ. ἢ γὰρ πεφυκὼς ἐσθλὸς οὐκ ἔχει βίον, ἢ δυσγενὴς ὢν ληκύθιον ἀπώλεσε. τὸ ἑξῆς, πλουσίαν ἀροῖ πλάκα.
