Headword: Οὐκ ἀνασχήσομαι
Adler number: omicron,847
Translated headword: I will not put up with [it]
Vetting Status: high
Some consider this [sc. grammatical form, ἀνασχήσομαι ] as alien; but Demosthenes, too, used it it in the [speech] Against Aristocrates.[1] So [it is] not necessary to say only ἀνέξομαι .
Greek Original:
Οὐκ ἀνασχήσομαι: τινὲς τοῦτο ὡς ἔκφυλον νομίζουσιν: ἐχρήσατο δὲ αὐτῷ καὶ Δημοσθένης ἐν τῷ κατὰ Ἀριστοκράτους. οὐ δεῖ οὖν μόνον λέγειν ἀνέξομαι.
From the scholia to Aristophanes, Acharnians 297, where the headword phrase occurs (web address 1); on whether this future middle form from ἀνέχω is legitimate Attic.
[1] Not in fact extant in that speech (Demosthenes 23), nor (as the scholion) the Against Timocrates (no.24), nor anywhere else in Demosthenes. (Some editors nevertheless register it as an unplaced Demosthenic fragment.)
