Two quotations (to illustrate the ὅσον οὐ /οὐκ idiom, for which see already omicron 700) from unknown historiographical sources, transmitted via the excerpts made for Constantine Porphyrogenitus.
[1] Infinitive, perhaps in indirect discourse. Bernhardy suggested the future infinitive βασιλεύσειν : "would be all but ruling."
