Headword: Ὀπτανία
Adler number: omicron,487
Translated headword: view (?)
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] an outlook.
Greek Original:
Ὀπτανία: ἡ ἀπόβλεψις.
Note:
The entry is paralleled in ps.-Zonaras (obelized by Tittman); Adler reports the headword in the Ambrosian Lexicon. The word seems to lack other attestation. In a fragment of Matron the parodist (mu 289) quoted by Athenaeus, Deipnosophists 4.134F (4.13 Kaibel) the mock-epic genitive plural ὀπτανιάων seems to relate to roasting (cf. omicron 486) rather than sight.
