Notes:
For this headword see also under alpha 2154 and delta 1660.
[1] Likewise or similarly in other lexica (references at Photius omicron261 Theodoridis), and cf. the scholia to Thucydides 1.18.3, where the headword occurs (see next note).
[2] No: Thucydides 1.18.3 (web address 1), on the breakdown of Athens/Sparta relations during the Pentekontaetia. Herodotus has two instances of the Ionic accusative singular ὁμαιχμίην (7.145.12 and 8.140.22); perhaps a reference has fallen out of the lexicographical tradition (de Boor, below).
[3] From the excerpts prepared for Constantine Porphyrogenitus, according to Adler; ultimate source unknown.
[4] Likewise from the excerpts prepared for Constantine Porphyrogenitus, according to Adler. Left unidentified by her, but latterly Favuzzi [see under alpha 1596] 201-202 finds vocabulary-based grounds for attributing it to John of Antioch.
