The headword, an adjective in the masculine accusative singular or neuter nominative/accusative singular, is otherwise unattested, and (as Adler notes) Bernhardy reasonably took it to be a faulty version of na/i+on. If so, it is either -- as assumed here -- na/i+os, the Doric form of nh/i+os, or else *na/i+os, an (epigraphically-attested) epithet of Zeus at Dodona. (See LSJ for both of these terms.)
