Νεβρός: ἐλάφου γέννημα, οἱονεὶ ἐπὶ τὴν βορὰν ἐξιὸν καὶ νεμόμενον. ἐτυμολογεῖται δὲ νεοπόρος τις ὤν. καὶ Νεβρείη καρδία. Βάβριος: πεινῶσα κερδώ, καρδίην δὲ νεβρείην λάπτει πεσοῦσαν, ἁρπάσασα λαθραίως.
