Greek Original:
*mesau/lion: kuri/ws me\n h( me/sh qu/ra: kei=tai de\ a)nti\ tou= mesau/lion. h)\ *mesau/lion, o( me/sos to/pos th=s au)lh=s.
Notes:
[1] (Gloss anticipated, with different spelling, at mu 347.) Same entry in other lexica: see the references at Photius mu292 Theodoridis, where the editor obelizes the first mesau/lion (i.e. the headword itself). The correct reading is preserved in the Lexica Segueriana: "me/ssaulon [Homer, Iliad 24.29, Odyssey 10.435; the Lex.Seg. has the Attic me/saulon], attested instead of mesau/lion".
[2] The second gloss, as a noun, is the original epic meaning (LSJ s.v. me/saulos I); the first gloss as an adjective, "mid-courtyard (gate)", is Attic (LSJ s.v. II).
