"That blood-stained and stone-thrower wretch asked to be surnamed 'Fortunate'."[1] ['Stone-thrower' means] he who is deserving of having stones cast against him, that is of being stoned to death.[2] And Aelian [writes]: "to destroy that cause of evil and stone-thrower."[3]
Greek Original:

[1] Aelian fr. 56c Domingo-Forasté (53 Hercher), of the Roman general L. Cornelius Sulla [sigma 1337] (who took the agnomen Felix) looting a temple in Alalcomenae: see Pausanias 9.33.
[2] This definition reads the noun as passive, as LSJ s.v. notes, but otherwise is active both morphologically and in usage (LSJ s.v). The phrase "deserving of having stones cast" is used by Photius and others to define kataleu/simon, as is seen at kappa 615; the Suda may have copied this definition across. The negative connotations for the active sense presumably associates execution by stoning with mob rule, so a leusth/r is someone who takes the law into his own hands.
[3] Aelian fr. 118b Domingo-Forasté (part of 115 Hercher), referring to Cleander, Commodus' protégé; cf. epsilon 916.
