Headword: *laisto/n
Adler number: lambda,201
Translated headword: seized (?)
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] something burdensome.
Greek Original:
*laisto/n: to\ a)xqeino/n.
Note:
The headword adjective, here in the neuter singular, is not otherwise attested, and on the face of it looks like a verbal adjective derived from lai/w (lambda 176), either "carried, seized" or "destroyed". There are no obvious parallels to the entry in other lexica (although cf. lambda 177). One possibility is that this is a corrupt Doricism for lh|sto/s "seized as booty", although that requires an overly literal reading of a)xqeino/n.
