Headword: *kaqignu=sai
Adler number: kappa,90
Translated headword: to offer an expiatory sacrifice
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] to make offerings for the dead.
Greek Original:
*kaqignu=sai: nekroi=s qu=sai.
Note:
Same entry in other lexica: see the references at Photius kappa39, where however Theodoridis obelizes the transmitted headword kaqignu=sai (not independently attested). This aorist infinitive is very probably a corruption of kaqagni/sai (see LSJ at web address 1), though other suggested emendations are kaqagi/sai and kaqignu/nai.
