Adler number: kappa,722
Translated headword: they having been brought back from banishment
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] the exiles having secured their return home.[1] Polybius [writes]: "[...] which [it was] not possible to recover, with those in exile not having been brought back from banishment".[2]
Greek Original:
*kataporeuqe/ntwn: e)pano/dou tuxo/ntwn tw=n fuga/dwn. *polu/bios: h(\n ou)x oi(=o/n te a)nalabei=n, mh\ ou)xi\ kataporeuqe/ntwn tw=n pefugadeume/nwn.
Notes:
[1] The headword, evidently extracted from the quotation given, is aorist passive participle (masculine genitive plural) of kataporeu/omai; cf. under kappa 566 = pi 1370.
[2] Polybius fr. 55 Büttner-Wobst (context unknown). Despite the lack of context, Büttner-Wobst suggests (522) that the passage should be augmented to read po/lin h(\n, i.e., which city it was not possible to recover.
