Headword: *karpou= di/kh
Adler number: kappa,418
Translated headword: produce lawsuit
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
Those claiming that [a piece of land][1] is theirs bring suit against the possessors; then if they win they sue for the produce also. This is called a produce suit.
And Lysias in the [speech] Against Demosthenes about guardianship [writes]: "for if you have a complaint against this young man, and he has something of yours, bring suit against him in accordance with the laws: if your dispute is about a plot of land, a [dike] karpou; if it is about a house, a [dike] enoikiou; just as this suit of his now, against you, is a guardianship suit".[2]

Notes:
For the putative dike karpou lawsuit see already kappa 417. The present entry -- the first paragraph of which derives from Photius, the second from Harpokration -- is obviously superior, though some modern experts who would like to make sense of these allegedly different procedures have been unable to do so (Harrison) and it may be that they were different facets of the same, multi-purpose one (MacDowell).
