Headword: *koniwme/nous
Adler number: kappa,2032
Translated headword: is being covered with dust
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
and [sc. also attested is] koniwme/nous ["them being plastered, them being daubed over"], them having been filled with dust.[1]
Greek Original:
*koniortou=tai: kai\ *koniwme/nous, ko/news peplhrwme/nous.
Notes:
The unglossed primary headword -- which, NB, is not the SOL's koniwme/nous (for which see below) but koniortou=tai -- is third person singular, present middle/passive, of the verb koniorto/w (for which cf. kappa 2037). Attested only here, it is evidently quoted from somewhere. See further, next note
[1] Present middle/passive participle, masculine accusative plural, of the verb konia/w; again quoted from somewhere unidentifiable. By citing koniwme/nous together with koniortou=tai and by glossing it thus, the Suda is deriving konia/w, from ko/nis or koni/a "dust"; but the verb primarily means "plaster with lime" (from LSJ s.v. koni/a III.2 "plaster, stucco").
