Headword: Κόμβος
Adler number: kappa,1987
Translated headword: band
Vetting Status: high
[Meaning] the band of two gloves, when someone ties [them] over his own neck.
Greek Original:
Κόμβος: ὁ κόμβος τῶν δύο χειριδίων, ὅταν τις δήσῃ ἐπὶ τὸν ἴδιον τράχηλον.
Unknown citation, also at kappa 2151, where the synonym ἀνάδεσμος is given. The noun ἐγκόμβωμα is similarly glossed in the Etymologicum Gudianum and Etymologicum Magnum.
The noun is otherwise attested only as "fringe" (or "molar") in Hesychius; but it is clearly related to κομβίον "buckle".
