Κολωνός: γῆς ἀνάστημα, τόπος ὑψηλός. Προκόπιος: ἐπειδὰν δὲ εἰς τὸν τοῦ ὄρους κολωνὸν ἵκωνται, ἐνταῦθα ἡσυχάζοντας τὸ λοιπὸν διανυκτερεύειν. Ἀρριανός: καθεώρων κολωνοὺς λίθων πολλαχοῦ τοῦ ὄρους νενεμημένους, τοὺς μὲν μείζους, τοὺς δὲ ἐλάττους: οὓς εἴκαζον ἐκ τοῦ πεδίου συνενηνέχθαι. ἦν γὰρ οὐ φύσει ἄλιθον, οὐδὲ εὔγειον τὸ πεδίον, ἀλλ' οἷον εἰκασθῆναι ἐκκακαθαρμένον.
