Note:
Like the Etymologicum Magnum, Hesychius, and a scholion on Homer, Iliad 2.222, this entry glosses the archaic perfect participle of kla/zw (LSJ entry at web address 1) by the present of kra/zw. The Suda's headword is the regular masculine plural, but the form appears in antiquity only in the irregular forms keklh/gontes (e.g. Homer, Iliad 17.756) and keklhgw=tes (the Aristarchan reading at Iliad 16.430); see web addresses 2 and 3. The regular form first appears in Herodian, commenting on Homer avoiding it (peri\ *)iliakh=s prosw|di/as, vol. 3,2. p. 81), and outside grammarians it shows up only in a couple of twelfth-century authors (Eustathius of Thessalonica, Commentary on the Odyssey 1.132.9; Eugene of Palermo 24.101).
