Καύνιος ἔρως: ἐπὶ τῶν μὴ κατορθουμένων ἐπιθυμιῶν: Καῦνος γὰρ καὶ Βύβλις ἀδελφοὶ ἐδυστύχησαν.
Notes:
Mentioned by Aristotle, Rhetoric 1402b3: "one would not speak of 'Kaunian passion' unless there were some passions which were bad". Kaunos and his sister Byblis were incestuous lovers as well as siblings: see Ovid, Metamorphoses 9.454 (web address 1).
Proverbial in Apostolius 9.39 and other paroemiographers.
