Headword: Κατοργᾶν
Adler number: kappa,1089
Translated headword: be quite eager, to press ahead
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] to be of surpassing vigour.
Greek Original:
Κατοργᾶν: ὑπερακμάζειν.
Notes:
Same entry in Hesychius kappa1845 and Photius, Lexicon kappa486 Theodoridis.
The headword verb itself, a strengthened version of ὀργᾶν (omicron 519, omicron 520), is extremely rare (LSJ entry at web address 1). TLG shows it as appearing in Herodotus 6.102 (web address 2), but κατοργῶντες there is merely one of several suggested emendations for the transmitted κατεργάζοντες .
