[sc. A proverbial phrase] in reference to those who are narrowly convicted in the jurycourts [sc. of classical Athens]. For if the votes are equal, defendants are relieved from trials in which the man against whom the complaint has been brought is acquitted.

Ἴσαι ψῆφοι: ἐπὶ τῶν παρ' ὀλίγον ἐν τοῖς δικαστηρίοις ἁλισκομένων. ἀναλύονται γὰρ οἱ διωκόμενοι ἀπὸ τῶν δικαζομένων, ἂν ἶσαι γένωνται ψῆφοι, ἐν αἷς ἀπολύεται ὁ ἐγκαλούμενος.
