John the Theologian and Evangelist returning from his exile on Patmos[1] composed his Gospel when he was 100 years old, and lived until he was 120 years old.[2] Spending his time there he wrote his Theology.[3] But Chrysostom accepts also his three Epistles and the Apocalypse.
It has eighteen sections, 232 chapters.[4]

Ἰωάννης: ὄνομα κύριον. ὅτι ὁ θεολόγος Ἰωάννης καὶ εὐαγγελιστὴς ἀπὸ τῆς ἐν Πάτμῳ ἐξορίας ἐπανελθὼν συντάττει τὸ εὐαγγέλιον ὢν ἐτῶν ρ#, διαρκέσας ἕως ἄλλων ἐτῶν ρκ#. ἐκεῖσε διάγων καὶ συγγράφεται τὴν θεολογίαν. δέχεται δὲ ὁ Χρυσόστομος καὶ τὰς ἐπιστολὰς αὐτοῦ τὰς τρεῖς καὶ τὴν ἀποκάλυψιν. ἔχει δὲ τίτλους δεκαοκτώ, κεφάλαια διακόσια τριάκοντα δύο.
