Translation:
Judge of Judaea, the man who rescued Israel from the hand of the Philistines. He vowed to God that he would sacrifice the first person he encountered. Then when he saw his own daughter dancing in a festival of victory, right away he slew her. Hence Jewish maidens carried out an annual four-day memorial service for her.

Ἰεφθάε, κριτὴς Ἰουδαίας, ὁ ῥυσάμενος τὸν Ἰσραὴλ ἐκ χειρὸς Φυλιστιείμ: ὃς ηὔξατο τῷ θεῷ τὸ πρῶτον ὑπ' αὐτοῦ ὑπαντώμενον καταθύειν. ἐπεὶ οὖν τὴν ἑαυτοῦ θυγατέρα ἐπὶ τοῖς νικητηρίοις ὀρχουμένην ἐθεάσατο, ταύτην εὐθέως ἀνεῖλε. διὸ δὴ αἱ τῶν Ἰουδαίων παρθένοι τετραήμερον αὐτῆς κατ' ἔτος ἐπετέλεσαν μνήμην.
