Headword: *ga/nios
Adler number: gamma,57
Translated headword: of gladness, of joy
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[no gloss]
Greek Original:
*ga/nios.
Notes:
Entry omitted in mss. AFV.
The unglossed headword ga/nios is presumably a Doric form of what would otherwise be ga/neos, genitive of the neuter noun ga/nos, "gladness, joy, cheer." Its only other extant occurrence is in the scholia to Oppian, Cynegetica 2.195, where it is glossed with eu)fro/sunos. (Oppian himself, however, wrote a quite different word: ga/mios!)
