Headword: Ηὐδόκησα
Adler number: eta,643
Translated headword: I was well pleased
Vetting Status: high
[Meaning] I was willing.
Greek Original:
Ηὐδόκησα: ἠθέλησα.
Same entry in ps.-Zonaras and, according to Adler, the Ambrosian Lexicon. The headword is first person singular, aorist indicative active, of εὐδοκέω (cf. epsilon 3422, epsilon 3423, epsilon 3426). It must be quoted from somewhere -- probably the New Testament, where (all three synoptic Gospels, plus a Pauline letter) in the form εὐδόκησα it appears in God's pronouncement: "this is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased").
